HOW WE GOT HERE
For ten years, we pastored a church north of Seattle in Snohomish, WA. It was home, and we never thought we’d leave.
Then, something shifted. We started feeling this undeniable nudge—like God was preparing us for something new. It didn’t make sense at first. Our life was settled, our kids had their friends, and we had participated in building something we loved. But when we prayed about it, we couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something waiting for us beyond what we had planned.
Through a series of moments we could never have orchestrated ourselves, and the support of Daybreak Church in Carlsbad, we found ourselves here in San Marcos—falling in love with this city, the people, and the incredible potential to reach a growing community.
WHY DISCOVER CHURCH?
We’ve met so many families who are working hard, raising kids, and doing their best—but who still feel like something’s missing. Some have been burned by religion. Some just never saw the need for church. But at the core, they’re asking the same questions:
How do I build a strong marriage when life is so busy?
How do I raise my kids with values that will last?
How do I find my purpose in life, in a community of people I trust?
As an ode to San Marcos being named “The Valley of Discovery”, we believe that every person is on their own journey of discovery—whether they’re discovering faith for the first time, rediscovering their relationship with Jesus, or searching for community and purpose.
Our name reflects the heart of our mission: to help people discover the life-changing love of Jesus and the power of belonging to His Church.
An Invitation to Build Something New
We want you! And it’s not even because you’re gifted (which obviously you are!), it’s because God is doing big things and we want you to experience the incredible blessings that come from serving Him and His people.
So yes, we want anyone and everyone to come to Discover Church, but more than that, we want to build something together! Let’s partner together in creating a place where families can grow, where friendships are real, and where faith helps us navigate life’s challenges.
